Folkmoot USA celebrates the Caribbean and
also the 28th year of Folkmoot Festivals at the organization’s primary
fundraising event for the 2011 season! The Pirate’s Ball will be held on
Friday, April 2 at the Laurel Ridge Country Club from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. The
evening’s festivities will be emceed by Waynesville Mayor Gavin Brown and
auctioneer Richard Hurley of Asheville. Guests have the options of dressing as
pirates or wearing any tropical-themed attire, although prizes will be awarded
for the best pirate costumes!
Hors d’oeuvres, delectable dessert by Debi
Hall of Just Simply Delicious, and a cash bar are just some of the amenities
offered during the evening. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on
treasure (aka “pirate booty”) and enjoy the rhythm and dance of Asheville’s
Boom Chix, an all-female drumming group.
“Kidnapped” for $500 ransoms are Western
North Carolina community leaders Patsy Rogers of Waynesville’s HomeTrust Bank, Richard
Hurley, George Escaravage and Joey’s Pancake House owner, Brenda O’Keefe. Contact
them (or Folkmoot USA offices—877.365.5872) to help raise their ransoms!
Tickets are $50 per person, and can be
purchased by calling Folkmoot USA toll free at 877.365.5872 or email dlavela@folkmoot.com. Sponsored by Evergreen
